Burger Sparkling Ale Flat Top Can

Burger Sparkling Ale Flat Top

Produced by the Burger Brewing Company in Cincinnati, Ohio, the Burger Sparkling Ale flat top holds a notable place in mid-century Midwestern breweriana. Burger Brewing was a dominant regional powerhouse throughout the Queen City and the surrounding Ohio Valley, cementing its cultural status through widespread regional distribution and high-profile marketing campaigns, including its multi-decade sponsorship of Cincinnati Reds baseball broadcasts.

While the brewery was widely recognized for its standard lagers, Burger Sparkling Ale served as the company's dedicated offering for traditional top-fermented ale drinkers. The can's design showcases the striking green-and-white color palette and bold typography characteristic of Burger's mid-century aesthetic, proudly displaying the brewery's Cincinnati heritage.

For beer can collectors, the can represents an important artifact of Ohio's competitive post-Prohibition brewing landscape. Known variations exist among surviving examples, reflecting minor changes in mandatory statutory text, copyright notices, and manufacturer insignias from container suppliers such as the Continental Can Company. Its distinctive graphic appeal and ties to Cincinnati's historic brewing heritage make it a prized centerpiece for regional and ale-focused collections.
