Busch Bavarian Beer 12 Oz Zip Top Can

Busch Bavarian Tampa Zip Top Can

Produced at Anheuser-Busch's Tampa, Florida brewery, this 12-ounce Busch Bavarian Beer zip top can represents an important era in regional packaging history.

Brewery & Distribution Context

Anheuser-Busch established its major Tampa facility alongside the original Busch Gardens hospitality park, turning the Florida plant into a key regional hub for southern distribution. Cans bearing mandatory text for Tampa distinguish these issues from those produced at the company's other facilities across the country.

Graphic Design

The can showcases the classic Bavarian Alps mountain motif set against a crisp blue-and-white color palette, tying into the brand's long-running promotional slogan, "Clear and Bright as Mountain Air." Traditional Anheuser-Busch corporate insignia and bold typography accompany the mandatory brewery statements identifying the Tampa location.

Collector Notes & Variations

For breweriana enthusiasts, cans originating from the Tampa plant feature several notable production variations. Documented variations include differences in multi-city mandatory text arrangements, can manufacturer stamps, and regional state tax stamps embossed or printed onto the lid. The Tampa location was also closely tied to early regional implementations of lightweight metal container manufacturing.

After Anheuser-Busch eventually shortened the brand name to simply "Busch," cans carrying the full "Busch Bavarian" graphic identity became celebrated artifacts of mid-century brewing history.
