Butte Special Beer Cone Top Can

Butte Special Beer Cone Top Can

The Butte Special Beer cone top can originates from the Butte Brewing Company in Butte, Montana, a legendary mining hub with a storied brewing history. Butte Brewing Company packaged its flagship Butte Special Beer in cone top containers designed to be filled and sealed on standard bottling lines.

Design and Variations

The can features bold typography set against metallic gold tones, highlighting the Butte Special branding alongside the Butte Brewing Company name and its Butte, Montana origin.

Collectors recognize variations across production runs, including differences in cone structure with both low-profile and high-profile configurations. Minor textual and graphical variations also exist across different print runs, such as examples that feature the Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) statement.

Collectibility and Regional Appeal

Among collectors of Rocky Mountain and Western breweriana, Butte Special cone tops are celebrated as premier regional artifacts. While flat top versions of Butte Special were also manufactured, the cone top iterations are significantly scarcer. As a result, authentic examples from this historic Montana brewery consistently generate strong interest and competitive bidding at specialized breweriana auctions.
