Champagne Velvet Beer Pint Can

Pacific Northwest CV Pint Can

The Champagne Velvet Beer Pint Can issued by the Brewing Corp. of Oregon in Portland, Oregon, represents an interesting chapter in twentieth-century regional brewing and brand licensing.

Originally created by the Terre Haute Brewing Company of Indiana, Champagne Velvet grew into a prominent national label famously advertised as "The Beer with the Million Dollar Flavor". During the mid-twentieth-century era of brewery consolidation and expanding distribution territories, rights and packaging contracts were established across different regional plants. In the Pacific Northwest, the brand was packaged in Portland under the Brewing Corp. of Oregon corporate designation, closely associated with the historic Blitz-Weinhard facility.

Design and Collector Significance

This sixteen-ounce pint container catered to markets seeking larger single-serve packaging. The can face incorporates the classic Champagne Velvet script, ribbon motifs, and heraldic branding elements paired with the required Portland, Oregon mandatory brewery line.

For breweriana collectors, West Coast examples of Champagne Velvet are particularly desirable due to the brand's heavy historical association with the American Midwest. Pint-sized cans from Pacific Northwest canning lines were typically produced in lower volumes than standard twelve-ounce cans, adding to their appeal among collectors of Oregon breweriana and oversize cans. Variations exist across different production runs, showing subtle differences in seam layout and mandatory legal text.
