Cold Brau Eastern Premium Beer Flat Top Can

Drewrys Cold Brau Flat Top Can

The Cold Brau Eastern Premium Beer flat top can represents an intriguing chapter in the mid-century packaging history of Drewrys Ltd. U.S.A., Inc., headquartered in South Bend, Indiana. Operating out of the historic Muessel Brewing facility on Elwood Avenue, Drewrys established itself as one of the Midwest's most prominent regional powerhouses, competing against national brewing giants through broad distribution networks and an extensive portfolio of brands.

Cold Brau was marketed under the "Eastern Premium" moniker, serving regional markets as an accessible label within Drewrys' lineup. The can's design features bold typography and distinct badging that emphasizes the Cold Brau name, complemented by clean graphic paneling and Drewrys' South Bend mandatory brewery text.

For breweriana collectors, the Cold Brau flat top provides a clear look into Drewrys' diverse private label and secondary brand strategy during the height of the company's regional output. Containers bearing the South Bend address remain significant historic artifacts from the era before Drewrys merged with Associated Brewing Company. Collectors also track graphic variations across production runs, including slight differences in mandatory text placement and brewery line formatting. The Cold Brau label eventually transitioned through later container formats as canning technology evolved, making this flat top steel can an enduring piece of Indiana brewing history.
