Cold Spring Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Cold Spring Tab Top Can History

The Cold Spring Beer 12 oz tab top can represents the flagship brand of the Cold Spring Brewing Company, located in Cold Spring, Minnesota. Founded in 1874 in Stearns County, the brewery long promoted the pure natural spring water of the region as a defining element of its identity and product lines.

Design and Manufacturer Details

The can features the traditional Cold Spring script branding alongside heraldic accents and crisp paneling that highlighted the brand's Upper Midwest heritage. As a key packaging format during the brewery's regional distribution peak, the can was produced across steel container lines with straight-seam manufacturing.

Collectors note multiple production variations across this label run. These variations generally relate to mandatory state-level alcohol declaration statements—such as differing designations for 3.2% and standard-strength markets—alongside minor adjustments in distributor text placement and mandatory canning disclosures.

Brewery Significance

Cold Spring Brewing Company was one of the enduring independent regional breweries in Minnesota, maintaining its identity through diversified contract packaging and proprietary brand releases. The Cold Spring Beer can remains an important historical artifact of Central Minnesota's industrial brewing era.
