Cold Spring Golden Brew Beer Cone Top Can

Cold Spring Golden Brew Cone Top

The Cold Spring Golden Brew Beer cone top can represents an important chapter in Upper Midwest breweriana, produced for the Cold Spring Brewing Company of Cold Spring, Minnesota. Established in 1874 near natural granite springs, Cold Spring operated as a prominent independent regional brewery serving Minnesota and neighboring states.

Design and Manufacture

Manufactured by the Continental Can Company, the container features a metallic gold finish accented with clean framing and prominent typography showcasing the "Golden Brew" moniker. The lithography emphasizes strong shelf visibility and classic mid-century graphic layout elements.

Label Variations

Due to evolving state liquor statutes and distribution requirements across regional markets, multiple variations of this can exist. Discrepancies among these versions are found primarily in the regulatory fine print, including varying alcohol content statements (such as percentages by volume or weight) and distinct designations such as "Strong". Collectors also document subtle shifts in seam markings and rim text placement corresponding to different production runs.

Packaging and Collectibility

Beyond the can itself, breweriana historians place significant value on related ephemera from this product line, such as the original "Cap-Sealed" multi-pack carry cartons specifically manufactured to hold these cone top cans. As a quintessential piece from one of Minnesota's historic independent brewing enterprises, the can remains a staple in Upper Midwest breweriana collections.
