Colt 45 Stout Malt Liquor 16 Oz Tab Top Can

Colt 45 Stout 16 Oz Phoenix Can

The Colt 45 Stout Malt Liquor 16 Oz Tab Top Can represents a notable chapter in American malt liquor packaging, originating from the Carling National Brewing Company facility in Phoenix, Arizona.

Brand Heritage and Brewery History

Colt 45 was originally introduced in the 1960s by the National Brewing Company and grew into one of the country's most recognizable malt liquor brands. Following the merger between the Carling Brewing Company and National Brewing Company, the resulting Carling National Breweries managed production across multiple regional facilities. Among these was the Phoenix, Arizona plant, a major Southwestern brewing hub that originally operated as the Arizona Brewing Company before being acquired by National.

Can Graphics and Collector Points

This one-pint container showcases the traditional Colt 45 rearing stallion emblem alongside the horseshoe. While the standard brand release was labeled as traditional malt liquor, this can is marked with the "Stout Malt Liquor" moniker.

Notable aspects of the can include:

• Brewery Mandatory Information: The can features mandatory text identifying Carling National and the Phoenix, Arizona plant, documenting the brand's southwestern manufacturing presence.
• Tallboy Format: The 16 fl. oz. / One Pint capacity sets it apart from standard 12-ounce and 8-ounce cans from the same era.
• Can Variations: Variations of this container exist within collector circles, displaying subtle differences in mandatory city text arrangements, side seam markings, and can manufacturer stamps.

Due to the regional distribution from the Phoenix facility and the less common Stout Malt Liquor designation, this can remains a recognized piece of 16-ounce malt liquor breweriana.
