Country Club Malt Lager 16 Oz Tab Top Can

Country Club Malt Lager Half Quart

The Country Club Malt Lager 16 oz tab top can represents a notable piece of mid-century American brewing heritage, originating from the historic brewing center of St. Joseph, Missouri. The Country Club brand was originally pioneered by the M. K. Goetz Brewing Company, a cornerstone Missouri brewery established in the nineteenth century. Following the acquisition of Goetz by the Pearl Brewing Company of San Antonio, Texas, Pearl continued operating the St. Joseph facility and preserved the regional manufacturing of the Country Club label.

While the beverage line gained national recognition as Country Club Malt Liquor, cans bearing the "Malt Lager" designation were specifically produced to satisfy state-level beverage labeling statutes. Various regional jurisdictions maintained strict regulations regarding alcohol classification terminology, restricting the use of the phrase "Malt Liquor" on consumer packaging and necessitating the "Malt Lager" alternative for distribution in those territories.

Packaged in the 16 fluid ounce half-quart size, this tall steel container features the signature bold Country Club insignia and distinct mid-century typographic elements. For breweriana collectors, cans bearing the St. Joseph, Missouri plant designation carry significant regional interest reflecting the facility's long-standing operation under Pearl. Variations of this can exist across manufacturing runs, exhibiting differences in state-mandated tax stamps, alcohol by weight notices, and plant line text.
