Country Club Malt Liquor Flat Top Can

Pearl Country Club Malt Liquor Can

Country Club Malt Liquor represents a landmark brand in American brewing history, originally created in St. Joseph, Missouri, by the M.K. Goetz Brewing Company. Following Pearl Brewing Company's acquisition of the historic Goetz facility, the brand was integrated into Pearl's portfolio, with canning continuing at the St. Joseph plant.

Graphic Design and Branding

The flat top can features the distinguished Country Club oval crest and classic mid-century typography. Cans produced under Pearl's ownership often reflect the transitional branding between the two brewing companies. Pearl incorporated its hallmark "xXx" mark into the crest artwork above the central lettering on later layouts, while earlier issues from the St. Joseph brewery retained cleaner emblem designs. Mandatory brewery text printed along the side seam identifies Pearl Brewing Company of St. Joseph, Missouri, often accompanied by references to Pearl's primary brewery in San Antonio, Texas. Slogans such as "Aged Three Times Longer" were prominently displayed across the label.

Collector Variations and Regulatory Markings

For breweriana enthusiasts, the Country Club flat top produced in St. Joseph provides notable variety. Variations exist in mandatory tax phrasing, alcohol content statements, and canning lid stamps applied for distribution across different state markets. Differences in metallic sheen, font weight on statutory notices, and subtle adjustments to the crown iconography above the shield distinguish various production batches from the St. Joseph canning lines.
