Country Club Stout Malt Liquor 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Country Club Stout Can Overview

The Country Club Stout Malt Liquor can represents an intriguing chapter in American breweriana history, tracing its lineage back to the historic M.K. Goetz Brewing Company of St. Joseph, Missouri. Goetz first launched the Country Club brand in the early 1950s, pioneering the commercial popularity of malt liquor nationwide. Following the acquisition of Goetz by the Pearl Brewing Company, production continued at the St. Joseph brewery under the Pearl name.

During Pearl's stewardship of the St. Joseph facility, the brewery expanded the Country Club lineup to include Stout Malt Liquor. The can design incorporates classic Country Club branding elements adapted for the stout malt liquor variant, emphasizing bold mid-century typography and the recognizable brand crest. The label clearly credits the Pearl Brewing Company in St. Joseph, Missouri, reflecting the transitional period before the historic plant was eventually closed in the 1970s.

For collectors of regional malt liquors, the can serves as a tangible link to the consolidation era of mid-century brewing. Variations of this can exist, featuring differences in alcohol content disclosures, mandatory text arrangements, and specific manufacturer stamps on the lids. As an artifact of Missouri brewing heritage, it remains a notable item celebrating the legacy of St. Joseph's long brewing tradition.
