Dartmouth Class Of 1935 Reunion Can

Dartmouth Class Reunion Drinking Mug

The Dartmouth Class Of 1935 Reunion Can is a 12-ounce straight steel drinking mug produced as commemorative serviceware for Dartmouth College alumni gatherings. Constructed with a straight-seam steel body and an open drinking mug top rather than a conventional sealed lid, this vessel was designed specifically for milestone class celebrations held in Hanover, New Hampshire. The exterior features the historic Dartmouth College oval seal—inscribed SIGILL: COL: DARTMUTH: NOV: HANT: IN AMERICA 1770—lithographed in traditional Dartmouth green over an off-white background.

Rather than serving as a standard commercial beer label, Dartmouth reunion cans belong to an established collegiate tradition in which graduating classes arranged custom drinkware for their decennial and mid-decade gatherings. Tailored for returning classmates attending campus banquets, lawn tents, and class festivities, these vessels were produced to dispense draft beverages during reunion events while doubling as lasting keepsakes that celebrated institutional pride and lifelong alumni connections.

Because these commemorative containers were commissioned privately for private alumni festivities, no commercial brewery is listed on the container. Event committees worked with can manufacturers and packaging suppliers to produce small, event-specific runs directly for campus distribution, bypassing conventional commercial retail and brewing channels entirely.

Collegiate reunion cans occupy a specialized cross-collecting niche that bridges the gap between vintage breweriana and Ivy League memorabilia. Produced exclusively for event attendees in limited event runs, these commemorative drinking mugs are valued by collectors as tangible historical artifacts of mid-century American university traditions.
