Davidson Premium Beer 12 Oz Zip/Tab Top Can

Colonial's Davidson Premium Beer

The Davidson Premium Beer 12 oz tab top can originates from the Colonial Brewing Company of Hammonton, New Jersey. Colonial functioned as a trade name for the Eastern Brewing Corporation, a regional operation well known among breweriana enthusiasts for its extensive roster of proprietary labels and contract-brewed packaging.

Design and Manufacturing Details

The face of the can features bold banner typography centered around the Davidson brand name. Below the primary branding, the label highlights the claim "Brewed Only With Pure Artesian Well Water," emphasizing the natural aquifer source utilized by the Hammonton production facility. Can manufacturing for this release was handled by the American Can Company, recognizable by the company's trademark "Keglined" oval insignia printed along the seam.

Collector Notes and Variations

Davidson Premium remains a staple representative of New Jersey's mid-century contract brewing history. Different variations exist across production runs, displaying slight modifications in statutory text—such as the presence or absence of alcohol content statements—and subtle changes in manufacturing markings.
