Dis-go Non-alcoholic Near Beer 12 Oz Tab/Insert Top Can

Disco-Era Pop Culture in a Can

Eastern Brewing Corporation of Hammonton, New Jersey was well known in the brewing industry for its prolific lineup of novelty labels, regional contract brews, and alternative beverages. Capitalizing on the peak of the 1970s disco phenomenon, Eastern introduced Dis-Go, a non-alcoholic near beer that blended the decade's dance hall craze with malt beverage marketing.

The exterior of the can features distinct 1970s pop-art aesthetics, complete with expressive, stylized disco dancers captured mid-motion. Because the product was formulated as a non-alcoholic beverage with less than 0.5% alcohol by volume, it often bypassed traditional liquor store distribution and was sold directly in convenience stores and supermarket aisles alongside soft drinks.

Variations of the can exist within the collecting community, showing differences in character illustrations—such as different dancer figures—as well as adjustments to the text layout that distinguish whether "Near Beer" or "Non-Alcoholic" was emphasized under the main brand logo. The Dis-Go name was also extended to a line of flavored sodas produced in Hammonton, linking this can to a wider pop-culture-driven beverage effort.

Today, the Dis-Go near beer can is appreciated by breweriana collectors as a colorful time capsule of 1970s music and nightlife trends.
