Drewrys Beer Flat Top Can

Drewrys Flat Top Can Overview

Produced by Drewrys Ltd. U.S.A., Inc. at its flagship facility in South Bend, Indiana, the Drewrys Beer flat top represents a notable chapter in mid-century Midwestern brewing history. The South Bend operation, established after the Canadian-founded company acquired the historic Muessel Brewing Company campus following the repeal of Prohibition, became the central hub for the brand's expansive regional distribution.

Graphic Design and Iconic Imagery

The visual presentation of the can strongly reflects the brewery's Canadian heritage. The centerpiece of the design is the recognizable Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer ("Mountie") mascot, typically set alongside or within a large Gothic letter "D". The label graphics feature bold red, green, and metallic finishes alongside classic promotional taglines, such as the company's famous slogan, "More Flavor, Less Filling, More Fun!"

Collectible Series and Label Variations

A primary draw for breweriana collectors is the wide assortment of reverse-panel themes printed across production runs. Drewrys issued specialty pictorial panels, notably a sports and outdoor recreation series featuring scenes of hunting and fishing, alongside an astrological series providing zodiac personality summaries titled "Your Character".

Known variations also exist across different can manufacturing partners, including the American Can Company and National Can Company. These variations encompass subtle differences in factory canning stamps, base metallic coatings ranging from bright metallic to dull gray, and shifts in the placement of brewery address lines and mandatory statements.
