Drewrys Draft 16 Oz Tab Top Can

Drewrys Draft Chicago 16 Oz Can

The Drewrys Draft 16 Oz Tab Top can represents a notable chapter in the expansion of the Drewrys brand across the American Midwest. Originally founded in Canada, Drewrys established a major brewing hub in South Bend, Indiana, before expanding its production and distribution footprint into Chicago, Illinois.

The 16-ounce pint format was marketed to deliver a tavern-style draft experience in a larger package. The label design prominently features the classic Drewrys draft branding and heraldic elements, making it an iconic piece of Midwestern breweriana.

Different variations of the 16-ounce Drewrys Draft can exist across multiple manufacturing locations, with mandatory brewery text reflecting the Chicago facility alongside other regional plants. Subtle variations also appear in the can maker marks, which include stampings from major container manufacturers of the era. The Chicago mandatory remains especially significant to collectors focused on regional brewing operations during the era of Midwestern brewery mergers.
