Drewrys Extra Dry Beer Flat Top Can

Drewrys Extra Dry Flat Top History

Drewrys Extra Dry Beer stands as one of the most recognizable mid-century labels from the Midwest, produced by Drewrys Ltd., U.S.A., Inc. in South Bend, Indiana. Following the repeal of Prohibition, Drewrys established a major footprint in the United States by operating out of the historic Muessel Brewery site in South Bend, where the company expanded into a regional brewing powerhouse.

The visual identity of the Drewrys Extra Dry can strongly highlights its Canadian heritage, featuring the well-known Mountie emblem alongside bold Gothic lettering. Packaging from this era was also celebrated for marketing slogans such as "More Flavor, Less Filling, More Fun".

Among breweriana collectors, the South Bend flat top is known for several variations distributed across different production runs. These include versions featuring sports action scenes on the side panels, differing background color palettes, variations in text layout, and specialized vanity lids with local mandatory tax and alcohol declarations.
