Du Bois: The Perfect Beer Can

Produced by the historic Du Bois Brewing Company of Du Bois, Pennsylvania, the Dubois "The Perfect Beer" can represents a notable chapter in mid-century regional American breweriana. Founded in 1897 by German immigrant Frank Hahne, the brewery built a dedicated following across Pennsylvania, New York, and Ohio.

The can prominently displays "The Perfect Beer" branding alongside the brewery's long-standing promotional tagline highlighting that the brew was crafted with pure mountain water. Many cans from the brewery also featured text referencing their flagship heritage, noting that the beer was produced by the makers of Du Bois Budweiser. This ties the can directly to one of the most famous legal sagas in American brewing history: a protracted trademark battle with industry giant Anheuser-Busch, in which Du Bois successfully defended its right to brew and distribute under the "Budweiser" moniker across its regional territory for decades.

For breweriana collectors, cans from Du Bois Brewing Company carry significant historical appeal, representing independent Pennsylvania brewing heritage before operations ended in the twentieth century. Variations exist across production runs, featuring differences such as state tax stampings on the lids, alternate mandatory labeling text, and markings from packaging suppliers like Continental Can Company.
