E & B Special Beer Cone Top Can

Detroit's E & B Special Cone Top

The E & B Special Beer Cone Top Can was produced for the Ekhardt & Becker Brewing Company, based in Detroit, Michigan. Operating out of their historic facility near Winder and Orleans Streets in Detroit's Eastern Market district, Ekhardt & Becker was one of the prominent regional breweries that flourished in post-Prohibition Michigan.

Manufactured by the Continental Can Company, this high-profile container displays the classic red, white, and metallic gold color palette associated with the E & B brand. The label prominently features the bold "E & B" script and monogram above the "Special Beer" designation, framed by decorative trim that made the packaging easily identifiable on retail shelves.

Collectors note that known variations of this can exist. Differences across production runs include changes in Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) wording, variations in mandatory state alcohol content statements, and subtle revisions to the brewery address text.

As an enduring piece of Detroit's industrial brewing history, the E & B Special Beer cone top can represents an era when independent regional packaging flourished throughout the Midwest.
