Brewed by the Los Angeles Brewing Company in Los Angeles, California, this flat top can represents a historic era for one of Southern California's most prominent regional brewing operations. The brewery traced its heritage to Bavarian immigrant George Zobelein, who took control of the facility in 1907 following the dissolution of his partnership in the Maier & Zobelein Brewery. Zobelein established "Eastside" as the flagship brand, named in reference to the plant's location situated just east of the Los Angeles River along North Main Street in Lincoln Heights.

The label incorporates the prominent family moniker "Zobelein's" above an illustration of a spreading eagle flanked by hop cones and grain, a visual trademark long associated with the brewery's pre- and post-Prohibition packaging. Directly beneath the arching brand name, the label bears the specific text "© COPYRIGHT 1947 L. A. BREWING CO." Lower on the central crest, it includes the mandatory "INTERNAL REVENUE TAX PAID" statutory notice, placing the production of this container in the immediate post-World War II period prior to the federal repeal of the tax statement requirement in 1950.

This design debuted shortly before a major turning point in the company's history. In 1948, the Milwaukee-based Pabst Brewing Company acquired the Los Angeles Brewing Company to establish its first major West Coast production hub. While Pabst continued to produce Eastside into the subsequent decades, the brand gradually transitioned from a leading regional flagship into a value-tier offering alongside Pabst's national brands.
