Drewrys Edelweiss Light Beer Can

The Edelweiss Light Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can represents a notable chapter in Midwestern brewing history, connecting the Chicago-born Edelweiss label with Drewrys Ltd., U.S.A., Inc. of South Bend, Indiana.

Brand Heritage and Brewery History

The Edelweiss brand originated with Chicago's Peter Schoenhofen Brewing Company, where it stood as one of the region's prominent flagship labels. As the brewing industry underwent major consolidation during the mid-20th century, the brand transitioned into the production lineup of Drewrys Ltd. U.S.A., operating from its major brewing facility on Elmwood Avenue in South Bend. During the era when Drewrys became affiliated with the Associated Brewing Company network, the South Bend plant packaged Edelweiss Light Beer to supply regional distribution across the Midwest.
