Eigenbrot's Beer Flat Top Can

Eigenbrot's Beer Flat Top History

Eigenbrot's Beer was packaged by the Globe Brewing Company of Baltimore, Maryland. Globe Brewing, located on South Hanover Street, resurrected the historic name of Baltimore's pre-Prohibition Henry Eigenbrot Brewery by adding this label to its roster of canned products alongside brands such as Arrow, Shamrock, and Hopfheiser.

Manufactured by the American Can Company, the container incorporates early "Keglined" branding and an instructional side panel, with the phrase "Modern Growler" displayed on its face. The design features bold, traditional typography intended to appeal to local consumers familiar with Baltimore's long-standing brewing traditions.

Within the breweriana hobby, the can holds a legendary status due to its extreme scarcity. For decades, it was considered virtually unobtainable until institutional and employee archives—most notably a preserved collection originating from an American Can Company employee—introduced examples into the collector market.

Variations of the can exist among known examples, exhibiting minor differences in side-panel patent verbiage, state permit notations, and American Can Company manufacturing codes. Because of its historical connection to Baltimore brewing heritage and its scarcity, the can remains one of the most celebrated and desirable mid-Atlantic flat tops.
