Esslinger Parti Quiz Philadelphia's Premium Beer Flat Top Can

Esslinger's Parti Quiz Can Series

Esslinger's Inc. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, introduced the Parti Quiz can series as an inventive marketing concept to capture consumer attention in an increasingly competitive regional brewing landscape. Widely known among collectors as "Quizzie" cans, these containers featured interactive "Facts for Fun" trivia items printed directly across the body of the can. The concept transformed enjoying a beverage into a lively social game, predating modern trivia board games by several decades.

The trivia on the cans spanned diverse subjects, including geography, nature, history, and science. Esslinger's distributed the cans in an array of vibrant single-color and multi-color metallic combinations, featuring contrasting bands, starry patterns, and text variations. In addition to the standard premium beer issues, the brewery also printed limited seasonal Bock versions featuring the trivia format.

Because the brewery produced these interactive cans through multiple can manufacturers and print iterations, collectors pursue a wide assortment of color schemes, textual differences, question sets, and design variations. The combination of mid-century typography, bold graphic layout, and playful trivia makes the Esslinger Parti Quiz flat top one of the most recognizable and celebrated novelty issues in breweriana history.
