The Falstaff Beer Test Can represents an experimental chapter in the packaging and graphic development of the Falstaff Brewing Corporation, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. During eras of packaging transitions and rapid advancements in canning technology, Falstaff collaborated with major container manufacturers, such as the Continental Can Company and the American Can Company, to prototype exploratory designs, metallic finishes, and seam constructions prior to authorizing wide-scale retail releases.

Rather than appearing on commercial store shelves, test cans were produced in limited sample runs for internal brewery review, laboratory testing, and executive evaluation. These prototypes allowed packaging engineers to evaluate ink adhesion, graphic resolution, and metal integrity under pressurized canning line operations. The can artwork features Falstaff's trademark heraldic shield and signature typography, often presenting exploratory color balances, alternative shield outlines, and experimental placement of mandatory brewery text.

Known variations exist across surviving examples, reflecting different trial finishes, color palettes, and container compositions evaluated across Falstaff's production history.
