Falstaff Draft 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Falstaff Draft Tab Top Can

During the major market expansion of the Falstaff Brewing Corporation, the St. Louis brewing giant broadened its lineup by offering packaged draft beer in convenient 12-ounce cans. Marketed to bring the brewery-fresh tavern experience into home refrigerators, Falstaff Draft represented a prominent product initiative for the company.

The can design highlights the historic Falstaff nameplate alongside distinct 'Draft' branding, accented by the company's traditional heraldic shield emblem. The clean layout and bold typography differentiated the draft release from standard packaged lager offerings on store shelves.

Because Falstaff operated a widespread network of breweries throughout the United States, this container was produced across multiple canning facilities. For breweriana collectors, this distribution created a variety of regional mandatory text variations, listing the St. Louis, Missouri headquarters as well as regional plants such as Fort Wayne, Galveston, Omaha, El Paso, and San Jose. Collectors also note manufacturing differences across different canning runs, including seam constructions and manufacturer markings from packaging suppliers like the American Can Company and Continental Can Company.

The Falstaff Draft can remains an iconic representation of mid-century St. Louis brewing history and a key staple in vintage regional breweriana collections.
