Fehr's X/L Beer 12 Oz Zip Top Can

Fehr's X/L Cincinnati Zip Top

The Fehr's X/L Beer 12 Oz Zip Top Can represents a fascinating transitional era for one of the Ohio Valley's most storied regional brewing labels. Originally established in Louisville, Kentucky, by Frank Fehr, the brand rose to widespread prominence behind its famous signature "X/L" (Extra Lager) moniker and classic slogans such as "The Beer That Xcels" and "It's Always Fehr Weather".

Following corporate changes and the eventual cessation of operations at the original Louisville facility, brewing and canning operations for the Fehr's name were shifted across the river to Cincinnati, Ohio. This specific container carries the mandatory Cincinnati brewery designation, making it a key crossover piece for collectors focusing on either Kentucky brewing heritage or Queen City breweriana.

The can's visual presentation features bold heraldic and geometric styling, highlighted by crisp red, white, and gold accents centered around the prominent Fehr's X/L emblem. Subtle variations of this label exist across production runs, showing slight differences in mandatory wording alignment, brewery text positioning, and rim detailing. Its place within regional canning history makes it an enduring favorite among Mid-century collector showcases.
