Fischer's Old German Beer Can

The Fischer's Old German Beer 12 Oz Insert Top Can is a notable piece from the history of New Jersey packaging. Associated with the Fischer label in Hammonton, New Jersey, the container was produced through the facilities of Eastern Brewing Corporation, a prominent regional facility known for maintaining a large catalog of contract brands, secondary labels, and proprietary regional staples.

Packaging Design and Motifs

The can features traditional German-American brewing iconography styled to evoke old-world heritage. The graphic presentation highlights classic heraldic framing alongside Germanic lettering and an illustration of a figure in a traditional feathered hat. The mandatory text specifying the Fischer name in Hammonton, New Jersey distinguishes this label from Old German brand containers manufactured under alternate trade names or packaging hubs in other states.

Manufacturing and Collector Notes

Fabricated as a straight-steel can with a glued side seam and an insert top lid, the container exemplifies the evolving metal packaging methods deployed by contract-heavy packaging plants during its manufacturing era. Eastern Brewing Corporation was known for utilizing diverse canning lines to efficiently distribute value brands across regional markets.

Among breweriana collectors, variations of this can exist across different production runs. These variations feature subtle differences in the mandatory brewery text, seam construction, and graphical element placement. The can remains a desirable piece for collectors focusing on East Coast breweriana, contract brewing history, and New Jersey packaging artifacts.
