Fisher Premium Light Beer Flat Top Can

Fisher Premium Light: Azusa Issue

The Fisher Premium Light Beer Flat Top Can bearing the General Corp. Azusa, California mandatory represents an important chapter in Western brewing history and mid-century corporate consolidation.

Brand Heritage and Ownership

Originally established in Salt Lake City, Utah, by German immigrant Albert Fisher, the Fisher brand grew into one of the most prominent regional brewing labels in the Intermountain West. Lucky Lager Brewing Company acquired the Fisher operations, and when the parent organization transitioned into General Brewing Corporation, it retained the Fisher brand to preserve regional market loyalty. General Brewing packaged the beer across its manufacturing network, including its facility in Azusa, California.

The Azusa Facility and Multi-Plant Packaging

General Brewing operated an extensive Western production network that included plants in California, Utah, and Washington. The Azusa brewery served as a major manufacturing and packaging hub for Southern California and surrounding distribution channels. Packaging the Utah-rooted Fisher brand at the Azusa plant highlights how regional brewing corporations used distributed canning facilities to supply regional markets efficiently.

Graphic Design and Collector Interest

The can features mid-century design aesthetics, showcasing crisp typography and bold accent banding framing the Fisher name and the "Premium Light" designation. For breweriana collectors, examples featuring the Azusa mandatory are of special interest because they reflect the decentralized canning operations of General Brewing. Variations exist across production runs, showing differences in mandatory plant text and can manufacturer markings from different canning lines.
