Fitger's Beer Flat Top Can

Fitger's Historic Duluth Flat Top

The Fitger's Beer flat top can originated from the Fitger Brewing Company in Duluth, Minnesota. Nestled directly along the shores of Lake Superior, Fitger was one of the northern Midwest's most prominent regional brewing institutions, tracing its roots all the way back to the mid-19th century. The brewery famously adapted during Prohibition by producing soda and candy bars before returning to commercial brewing operations and adopting can packaging for its flagship brands.

For breweriana collectors, the Fitger's Beer flat top holds significant regional prestige. Known variations exist among these cans, featuring minor differences in mandatory brewery text, canning manufacturer markings, and metallic finish tones across different production runs. The brewery's original ten-building complex in Duluth is preserved on the National Register of Historic Places, giving cans from this historic Lake Superior facility added appeal among collectors of classic American brewing memorabilia.
