Fort Pitt Special Beer Cone Top Can

Fort Pitt Special Jeannette Can

The Fort Pitt Special Beer cone top can represents a notable chapter in Western Pennsylvania brewing history, hailing from the Fort Pitt Brewing Company's facility in Jeannette, Pennsylvania. Originally established in Sharpsburg, Fort Pitt expanded its production footprint into Jeannette by acquiring the former Victor Brewing Company plant to significantly increase regional output.

During its peak years, the company widely promoted its flagship beer with the memorable advertising slogan, "Fort Pitt—That's It!" Canned packaging produced with the Jeannette mandatory reflects this major period of industrial expansion, when the brewery became one of the leading beer producers in the state.

The can's graphic design features classic heraldic motifs, bold typography, and crest imagery paying tribute to Fort Pitt, the historic frontier fortification located at the forks of the Ohio River in Pittsburgh. Variations of the Jeannette canning run exist, displaying differences in statutory declarations—such as versions bearing the "Internal Revenue Tax Paid" (IRTP) statement versus non-IRTP examples—as well as differences in can manufacturer stamps and banner text phrases like "Extra Quality / Fine Flavor" or "Choicest Malt."

Because Fort Pitt operated multiple packaging facilities throughout the region, cans specifically displaying the Jeannette plant text remain prized artifacts among Pennsylvania breweriana collectors.
