Fort Pitt Special Beer Cone Top Can

Fort Pitt Special Beer Cone Top

The Fort Pitt Special Beer cone top can represents a classic piece of Western Pennsylvania brewing history, originating from the Fort Pitt Brewing Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As Fort Pitt rose from its roots in Sharpsburg to become one of the premier regional brewing powerhouses of the post-Prohibition era, its packaged lineup was headlined by flagship offerings like Fort Pitt Special Beer.

During its production run, the brewery heavily promoted its canned beer across regional markets, famously supporting products with the widespread marketing catchphrase "Fort Pitt—That's It!" The can's label art highlights bold typography and heritage branding that pays homage to the historic frontier fortification located at the forks of the Ohio River in Pittsburgh.

For collectors, several distinct variations of this can exist. Notable differences appear in the mandatory statutory labeling, including versions produced with the 'Internal Revenue Tax Paid' (IRTP) declaration as well as non-IRTP examples. Furthermore, mandatory text variations reflect different canning operations across the brewery's facilities in Pittsburgh, Sharpsburg, and Jeannette.

Fabricated in the standard high-profile cone top format, this can remains a quintessential display item for collectors of Pennsylvania breweriana and classic American metal packaging.
