Fort Sutter Brand Beer Beer Flat Top Can

Historic Fort Sutter California Can

The Fort Sutter Brand Beer flat top represents a celebrated chapter in Northern California brewing heritage, produced by Grace Bros. Brewing Company in Santa Rosa, California. Named in tribute to John Sutter's historic 19th-century agricultural and trading settlement in the Sacramento Valley, the can features an illustrated depiction of the iconic adobe fort structure framed by landscape detailing.

During the post-Prohibition era, Grace Bros. actively expanded its market presence across Northern California and the Central Valley by creating specialized regional and private labels. Fort Sutter Brand Beer was crafted with a strong regional identity rooted in California's frontier and Gold Rush history.

The can includes opening instruction text and federal Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) labeling alongside the mandatory brewery statements. Among breweriana historians and collectors, variations in the lithography have been documented, notably featuring differences in the coloration of the shrubs and lawn surrounding the fort illustration, with foliage appearing in green or earthy tones across manufacturing runs.

Due to its evocative regional imagery and historical ties to pioneer heritage, the Fort Sutter Brand Beer flat top stands as a highly desirable acquisition among West Coast breweriana enthusiasts.
