Fox Deluxe Beer Cone Top Can

Fox Deluxe Beer Marion Cone Top

The Fox Deluxe Beer cone top can represents an important chapter in Midwestern brewing history, originating from the Fox Deluxe Brewing Company of Indiana, Inc. based in Marion, Indiana. This production facility was operated as a regional branch of the Chicago-based Peter Fox Brewing Company, which expanded its brewing footprint into Indiana during the 1940s by acquiring the former Kiley Brewing Company property on Lincoln Boulevard.

Production and Design Highlights

Manufactured by the Continental Can Company using their patented Cap Sealed design, the can showcases the signature Fox Deluxe brand identity. The graphics prominently feature bold lettering alongside the recognizable fox insignia associated with the Peter Fox brewing portfolio. The mandatory brewery text explicitly designates Marion, Indiana as the point of manufacture, distinguishing these containers from those filled at the company's primary Chicago plant.

Collector Variations and Historical Significance

Collectors recognize that several variations of this can exist in the hobby. These variations primarily center around changes in regulatory labeling and statutory tax markings, including examples produced with Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) statements, variations in mandatory text layout, and differing alcohol percentage declarations.

Because the Marion facility operated as the town's only commercial brewery during the mid-20th century canned beer era before closing in 1950, containers bearing the Marion mandatory are prized regional artifacts of Indiana industrial history.
