Fox Deluxe Beer Flat Top Can

Fox Deluxe Flat Top Beer Can

Produced by the Peter Fox Brewing Company in Chicago, Illinois, the Fox Deluxe Beer flat top is a classic artifact of mid-century Midwestern brewing history. Following the repeal of Prohibition, the Fox brothers established their plant on West Monroe Street, quickly expanding output to become one of the highest-producing brewing companies in the nation during the 1940s.

The can showcases the bold Fox Deluxe title lettering paired with the brewery's trademark heraldic crest and crisp lithography. Over its manufacturing run, the can was distributed with opening instruction side panels as well as standard, non-instructional layouts. Label variations exist across production runs, featuring subtle differences in metallic background finishes, font stylings, American Can Company canning marks, and mandatory tax statement arrangements.

As the Peter Fox Brewing Company expanded its footprint across the Midwest by purchasing additional facilities in Michigan and Indiana, Fox Deluxe was packaged with various regional mandatory texts. Nonetheless, the original Chicago, Illinois label remains a cornerstone piece for metropolitan breweriana collectors, capturing the essence of independent American canning before large-scale national consolidation reshaped the industry.
