G.e.m. Premium Beer 12 Oz Zip/Insert Top Can

Colonial's G.E.M. Premium Beer

The G.e.m. Premium Beer 12 Oz Zip/Insert Top Can is a classic regional release associated with the Colonial Brewing Company of Hammonton, New Jersey. Colonial operated as an alternate trade name under the Eastern Brewing Corporation, a major production facility based on North Washington Street. The Hammonton plant was well known within the beverage industry for producing a vast array of proprietary labels, regional distribution brands, and contract brews across the Mid-Atlantic.

The G.E.M. label, featuring its characteristic punctuated lettering, was among the specialized lines marketed through Colonial's distribution channels. The can's graphics utilized bold mid-century typography and straightforward commercial branding designed to stand out on retail shelves. Collectors of New Jersey breweriana regard the brand as a key component of Atlantic County's rich brewing heritage.

Equipped with a zip/insert top lid, this can exemplifies the period of packaging innovation when breweries embraced self-opening container formats. Different production variations exist across the label's history, reflecting slight modifications in brewery mandatory text, state notices, and lithographic alignment. It remains a notable piece for collectors focused on mid-century regional canned beers and Garden State industrial brewing history.
