Garrison Jubilee Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Garrison Jubilee August Schell Can

The Garrison Jubilee Beer 12 oz tab top can is a regional commemorative release produced by the August Schell Brewing Company of New Ulm, Minnesota. Schell’s, celebrated as one of the oldest continuously operated family breweries in the United States, developed a robust tradition of brewing specialty and commemorative regional batches for civic events and community milestones throughout the Upper Midwest.

Background and Design

This can was created to commemorate the civic jubilee of Garrison, North Dakota. Schell's frequently supported Midwestern communities by canning commemorative beers, which served as festive souvenirs during local festivals and anniversary gatherings. The face of the can emphasizes community heritage with commemorative typography and the thematic slogan, "Together We Have Grown Together".

Manufactured by the Continental Can Company, the straight steel can prominently displays the August Schell Brewing Company mandatory line identifying New Ulm, Minnesota as its place of origin. The visual presentation utilizes bold celebratory typography and regional graphics centered around the Garrison anniversary celebration.

Collector Notes

Commemorative and contract-brewed cans from August Schell are a distinct specialty area among collectors of Upper Midwest breweriana. Because distribution was primarily restricted to local event attendees and regional retail outlets around Garrison, these cans serve as lasting historical artifacts of both small-town community history and Minnesota contract brewing. Known variations exist across manufacturing runs, primarily differentiated by minor adjustments in mandatory text, manufacturer marks, and top-lid configurations.
