Garten Brau Bavarian Style Beer Flat Top Can

Garten Brau Bavarian Style Can

The Garten Brau Bavarian Style Beer flat top can was issued by the Potosi Brewing Company of Potosi, Wisconsin, marketed under their designated trade name, the Garten Bräu Brewing Company. Potosi utilized several alternate brewery identities to market distinct regional labels, with Garten Brau highlighting traditional German heritage and referencing the brewery's founding year with slogans such as "Master Brewed Since 1852" and "Like The Good Old Beer Of Yesteryear."

The can design features classic Bavarian-themed typography and heraldic imagery, finished with bold red, white, and metallic accents. Among breweriana enthusiasts, known variations exist in the canning run, displaying subtle differences in metallic inks—most notably copper and gold tones in the mandatory text and contents statements—as well as variations in the manufacturer seam markings from Continental Can Company.

Because the Potosi Brewing Company ceased its original brewing operations in the early 1970s before being resurrected decades later as a historic foundation and museum site, original Garten Brau flat tops remain key centerpieces for collectors of Midwestern brewing history and Wisconsin canning lines.
