Genesee Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Genesee Single-Brewery Tab Top

This straight-steel tab top can was issued for the Genesee Brewing Company of Rochester, New York. Decorated in Genesee's familiar white, red, and gold livery, the design features the company's well-known regional marketing slogan, "Our 1 brewery makes it best".

The Campaign and Design

During an era when large national macrobreweries were expanding production across multiple regional facilities, Genesee leaned into its regional heritage. The "Our 1 brewery makes it best" campaign emphasized quality control and tradition rooted at the company's historic brewery overlooking High Falls on the Genesee River in Rochester.

The can face prominently presents the bold red Genesee Beer logotype accompanied by the brewery's traditional shield emblem. The slogan appears as a secondary tagline, reinforcing the brand's local identity and focused brewing operations.

Construction and Collector Notes

Manufactured from straight-walled steel, this container is identified by its wide side seam. Genesee distributed the "Our 1 brewery makes it best" slogan across several production variations, with differences appearing in seam widths, can materials, and top configurations across the broader packaging run. For collectors of New York breweriana and classic regional beer packaging, this wide-seam straight-steel edition represents a notable chapter in Genesee's marketing history.
