Gettelman Milwaukee Beer Flat Top Can

Gettelman Milwaukee Flat Top Can

The Gettelman Milwaukee Beer flat top represents the rich brewing heritage of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, produced by the A. Gettelman Brewing Company. Recognized as part of the historic "Big Five" Milwaukee breweries—alongside Schlitz, Pabst, Blatz, and Miller—Gettelman maintained a dedicated regional following before its acquisition by the Miller Brewing Company in 1961.

Brewery Heritage & Branding

Founded in the mid-nineteenth century, A. Gettelman Brewing Company developed a reputation for independent operations and canning innovations. The Gettelman Milwaukee Beer can design incorporates clean, traditional typography and heraldic elements that prominently emphasize its Milwaukee roots. The brand was an essential staple of Gettelman's portfolio alongside other notable labels like $1,000 Beer and Milwaukee's Best.

Collector Variations & Features

For breweriana enthusiasts, Gettelman cans are central to assembling complete Milwaukee collections. Known variations exist across manufacturing runs, featuring subtle differences in bottom lids, can manufacturer stamps (such as American Can Company or Continental Can Company), and small shifts in mandatory brewery text and corporate labeling. Gettelman also released specialized graphic variations within its flat top line, such as the sought-after sportsmen series, cementing the brewery's lasting appeal among collectors.
