Gibbons Premium Beer Flat Top Can

Gibbons Premium Beer Flat Top

The Gibbons Premium Beer flat top can is a classic piece of Pennsylvania breweriana produced for The Lion, Inc. out of Wilkes-Barre. Following the repeal of Prohibition, the brewery adopted the Gibbons moniker, transforming the label into a regional staple throughout northeastern Pennsylvania and the surrounding coal mining communities.

Emblazoned with the recognizable regional slogan, "If It's Gibbons... It's Good!", the can showcases iconic mid-century commercial artwork. The design features bold typography flanked by traditional brewing motifs, heraldic crest accents, and a distinctive red, white, and metallic gold color scheme.

For breweriana enthusiasts, the can is known for several manufacturing variations. Over its run, The Lion utilized different can manufacturers, including Crown Cork & Seal and the American Can Company. These production runs led to collectible variations in mandatory legal text, seam construction, and metallic paint finishes.

As a tangible artifact of Luzerne County's storied industrial brewing history, this flat top remains a celebrated piece among collectors of classic Keystone State breweriana.
