Goebel Lt. Lager Pri. St. 22 Beer Pint Can

Goebel Private Stock 22 Pint

Produced by the Goebel Brewing Company in Detroit, Michigan, the Goebel Light Lager Private Stock 22 pint can represents one of the most distinguished large-format containers issued by the historic Motor City brewer. During the height of Detroit's mid-century brewing industry, Goebel established itself as a regional powerhouse, widely recognized across the Midwest through its sponsorship of Detroit Tigers broadcasts and its spirited mascot, Brewster the Rooster.

While Goebel distributed substantial quantities of its flagship Private Stock 22 brand in standard twelve-ounce and eight-ounce "Bantam" cans, sixteen-ounce pint flats were manufactured in far smaller volumes. The can features a striking metallic gold, red, and black palette centered around the bold "22" branding alongside the traditional Goebel script logotype.

Among collector circles, variations are known to exist across different manufacturing runs. Some examples carry the explicit "1 PINT" marking directly on the display panel, while other versions display alternate mandatory text or differences in reverse ink coloration. Additionally, collectors distinguish between factory-filled containers distributed through retail channels and rolled examples sourced from flat production sheets.

As Goebel expanded beyond Detroit with facilities in Muskegon, Michigan, and Oakland, California, the Private Stock 22 brand remained a cornerstone of the company's lineup until Goebel was ultimately acquired by neighboring rival Stroh Brewery Company. Today, the sixteen-ounce Private Stock 22 flat top remains an enduring centerpiece of Michigan breweriana collections.
