Gold Label Beer 16 Oz Tab Top Can

Walter's Gold Label 16 Oz Can

The Gold Label Beer 16 oz tab top can was produced by the Walter Brewing Company of Pueblo, Colorado. Founded in the late nineteenth century by Martin Walter, the Pueblo facility served as a major regional brewing hub across the Rocky Mountain market, producing a variety of local brands alongside its Gold Label line.

Design and Production

The 16-ounce (one-pint) container features the bold Gold Label branding and stylized graphics characteristic of Walter Brewing Company's mid-century packaging. Manufactured from straight steel by container fabricators such as the Continental Can Company, the pint-sized can was distributed across Colorado and neighboring distribution networks.

The one-pint format provided an alternative to the standard twelve-ounce package, catering to tavern patrons and retail consumers prior to the brewery's closure in the mid-1970s.

Variations and Collector Interest

For collectors of Colorado and Western breweriana, this 16 oz can is a notable artifact from the final decades of Pueblo's historic independent brewing era. Variations exist across production runs, reflecting minor differences in mandatory brewery text, canning company marks, and metallic background finishes.

Because Walter Brewing Company ceased operations in Pueblo in 1975, cans carrying the Walter Pueblo signature remain popular items for collectors specializing in regional Colorado beer history.
