Golden Crown Extra Pale Beer Flat Top Can

Golden Crown Extra Pale Flat Top

Produced by the Maier Brewing Company in Los Angeles, California, the Golden Crown Extra Pale Beer flat top represents a notable piece of Southern California brewing history. Operating out of its facility on Commercial Street in downtown Los Angeles, Maier was widely known for its flagship Brew 102 as well as a prolific portfolio of regional labels and contract brands.

Golden Crown was marketed as part of Maier's lineup of accessible, value-priced beers. The graphic presentation of the can showcases a bold crown emblem centered on the label, paired with mid-century typography designating the brew as "Extra Pale". The clean design reflects the period's emphasis on strong shelf appeal in grocery aisles.

Cans for the brand were produced by major container manufacturers, including National Can Corporation, featuring metallic highlights and bold lithography characteristic of Maier's output. Collectors often seek out Golden Crown cans due to their association with the colorful history of Maier Brewing during the era of industrialist Paul Kalmanovitz, who managed a vast network of regional brewing operations across the West Coast.

Variations of Golden Crown cans exist across production runs, reflecting subtle adjustments in mandatory brewery text, canning codes, and graphic accents. For collectors focused on California breweriana and West Coast flat tops, Golden Crown remains an iconic regional artifact.
