Golden Crown Extra Pale Dry Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Golden Crown Extra Pale Dry Beer

The Golden Crown Extra Pale Dry Beer 12 oz tab top can represents a notable chapter in West Coast contract and value-tier brewing history under General Brewing. Originating from Los Angeles, California, General Brewing operated multiple facilities along the Pacific coast and packaged Golden Crown as part of its extensive regional portfolio.

Brand History and Production Context

The Golden Crown label has a rich lineage across California breweriana, appearing across several eras of regional brewing. During General Brewing's tenure, the brand was distributed widely throughout the western United States. While Los Angeles served as a key production hub for these cans, mandatory text on the label often reflected General's broader manufacturing network across the West Coast, which included facilities in San Francisco and Vancouver, Washington.

Graphic Design and Label Variants

The can features bold commercial typography complemented by crown imagery that defined the Golden Crown aesthetic. Designed for clear shelf recognition in retail markets, the layout highlights the 'Extra Pale Dry Beer' designation prominently across the front.

For breweriana collectors focusing on California and Pacific Northwest labels, Golden Crown remains an essential representative of regional economy packaging from major West Coast brewing operations. Several variations exist across production runs, distinguished by differing mandatory statement layouts, multi-city brewery listings, and subtle shifts in lithography between canning batches. These differences make the label an interesting subject for collectors tracking historical packaging shifts across General Brewing's facilities.
