Golden Stein Eastern Premium Beer Flat Top Can

Drewrys Golden Stein Beer Can

The Golden Stein Eastern Premium Beer flat top can represents a notable regional label issued by Drewry's Ltd., U.S.A., Inc. of South Bend, Indiana. Drewry's, originally founded in Canada, established substantial brewing operations in South Bend at the former Muessel Brewery site and grew into a major midwestern producer. To diversify its portfolio and appeal to different market segments, the brewery packaged regional and value brands such as Golden Stein alongside its primary line.

Manufactured by the National Can Company, the can features the classic "Golden Stein" typography and traditional brewing motifs. During this era, Drewry's frequently utilized Germanic and European-inspired styling across its specialty labels to project heritage and craftsmanship.

For breweriana enthusiasts, this label serves as an interesting artifact of Drewry's corporate footprint and distribution network. Variations of the Golden Stein design exist across different mandatory brewery texts—including affiliations with Chicago facilities—and subsequent container formats. The South Bend flat top remains a sought-after piece that highlights the expansive label diversity of the historic Indiana brewery.
