Grain Belt Beer 16 Oz Tab Top Can

Grain Belt 16 Oz Pint Can

The Grain Belt Beer 16 Oz Tab Top Can represents a celebrated era of Upper Midwest brewing history, originating from the Grain Belt brewery in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Produced as a full one-pint container, this taller format provided consumers with an extended serving of the brewery's flagship label.

Graphic Identity and Design

The exterior graphics prominently feature the quintessential Grain Belt visual motif: the iconic diamond-shaped insignia set against a bold red, white, and gold color scheme. Surrounding the primary branding, the label displays traditional brewery script alongside classic slogans associated with the brand, such as "The Friendly Beer". The 16-ounce canvas gave graphic designers ample space to balance the prominent diamond emblem with mandatory text, volume declarations, and regional promotional copy.

Brewery History and Legacy

Originating from the historic brewing complex along the Mississippi River in Northeast Minneapolis, Grain Belt was one of the cornerstone regional brewers in Minnesota. The brand established an enduring cultural legacy across the Midwest, underscored by landmark advertising like the giant neon Grain Belt sign overlooking Nicollet Island. The 16 oz format was a staple across local gathering spots, taverns, and outdoor events throughout the brewery's distribution footprint.

Variations and Collector Interest

For breweriana collectors, the 16-ounce Grain Belt tab top offers notable points of interest. Variations exist across production runs, primarily differentiated by revisions to mandatory brewery legal text—such as listings for Minneapolis Brewing Company versus Grain Belt Breweries, Inc.—as well as subtle adjustments in typography, border framing, and statement placement.
