Associated's Great Lakes Can
The Great Lakes Premium Beer 12 oz tab top can represents a notable chapter in Midwestern brewing history under the Associated Brewing Company banner in Evansville, Indiana. Associated Brewing Company expanded its regional presence through several acquisitions, utilizing production facilities such as the historic Sterling plant in Evansville to package and distribute established regional brands.
The can design prominently highlights the Great Lakes brand name, complemented by stylized artwork depicting the Great Lakes basin. Because Associated Brewing Company operated packaging operations across several locations, cans distributed under this label feature variations in the mandatory brewery city listings printed on the side panels. Furthermore, collectors track graphic variations across different production batches, such as changes in the fill color and metallic accents of the lake artwork.
This can remains a popular focus for breweriana collectors concentrating on Indiana brewing heritage and mid-century regional consolidation.
