Falstaff Griesedieck Malt Liquor Can

The Griesedieck Malt Liquor 12 oz can stands as a notable piece of St. Louis brewing heritage, issued under the banner of the Falstaff Brewing Corporation. The Griesedieck name carries deep roots in American brewing history, tracing back to German immigrant brewmasters who established prominent malting and brewing operations throughout the St. Louis area. Following Falstaff's acquisition of the Griesedieck Brothers brewing assets, Falstaff continued to market specialized products under the historic family name, including this dedicated malt liquor release.

For breweriana collectors, the can is recognized for its distinctive label design, which typically highlights bold malt liquor typography alongside traditional heraldic crests and references honoring the long-standing brewing heritage. Across different production runs, variations exist primarily in the mandatory brewery location text printed along the seam and side panels. As Falstaff expanded nationwide, cans were produced listing various regional plant operations, including facilities in St. Louis, Cranston, Fort Wayne, Omaha, New Orleans, Galveston, and San Francisco. Collectors frequently seek out these differing mandatory city listings and subtle changes in metallic paint applications across regional canning facilities.
