Hamm's Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Hamm's San Francisco Tab Top

The Hamm's Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can represents an important chapter in the West Coast packaging operations of the Theodore Hamm Brewing Company. Originally rooted in Minnesota, the brewery established a major regional packaging presence in San Francisco, California, to supply western distribution channels.

Design and Graphics

The can features the classic mid-century Hamm's aesthetic, showcasing a clean two-tone blue and white field accented with gold framing. Prominently displayed is the iconic script branding set alongside the red-and-gold royal crown crest. Accompanying text on the label highlights the brand's long-running slogan, "From the Land of Sky Blue Waters".

Mandatory Markings and Variations

For breweriana collectors, the primary distinguishing feature is the mandatory manufacturing statement designating Theodore Hamm Brewing in San Francisco, California.

Collectors track multiple variations across different production runs. Differences include:

• Lid Stampings: Certain releases feature regional lid stampings or factory codes, such as "SF" embossed or printed on the top lid.
• Can Construction: Manufacturing differences include straight steel body construction as well as all-aluminum designs.
• Typography: Variations occur in mandatory text placement, regulatory wording, and can manufacturer logos.
