Hamm's Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Hamm's St. Paul Tab Top Can

The Hamm's Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can is an iconic piece of American breweriana produced by the Theodore Hamm Brewing Company of St. Paul, Minnesota. Originating from the historic brewery along Phalen Creek, the can features the brand's celebrated Northwoods imagery and its famous slogan, "From the Land of Sky Blue Waters".

Design and Graphics

The label showcases the classic Hamm's presentation, highlighted by bold red-and-white script lettering set against a clean white and blue background, accompanied by the brewery's royal crown crest. Gold trim accents frame the layout, echoing the mid-century aesthetic popularized during the brand's nationwide advertising campaigns.

Mandatory Statements and Variations

For breweriana collectors, the mandatory manufacturing statements along the side seam serve as key distinguishing features. While Theodore Hamm eventually expanded brewing operations to other locations such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Houston, cans bearing only the St. Paul, Minnesota mandatory line hold special historical appeal among Upper Midwest brewery enthusiasts.

Several variations exist among production runs of this can. Notable differences include typography adjustments in the mandatory text, variations in the gold border bands, and different lid stampings, such as variations with colored print versus unpainted embossing.
